  1. gas mileage doe NOT go down significantly when you drive over over 60 mph. those figures are assuming that all cars are exactly the same and everyone drives exactly the same. what makes your gas mileage go down are things like rapid accelleration, and not looking ahead so you un-necessarily brake and then have to speed up again. i get 35 miles per gallon at 72 miles per hour. i have found this to be the ideal speed for my car, i barely have to have my foot on the gas and the car almost drives itself. at 55 my engine lugs whenever there is the slightest incline and i have to shift down a gear. it’s more work, it’s not as smooth, it wastes gas, it’s more work for my engine and my transmission. this whole 55mph thing is a farce. buy a fuel efficient car if you want to save fuel.

People have a tendency to not care about the little things, but they forget that everything is a sum of it’s parts.

Thanks for pointing out the little things, as well as some bigger tips, to some of us who may not realize how much of a difference such things can make.
